Cirencester Development FC v Bourton Rovers FC

Cirencester v BRFC-20191051.jpg

Bourton travelled up the fosse way to take on Cirencester development on a very windy Saturday afternoon. The game was only 5 minutes old when Bourton were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out, Danny Way curled the ball in to the penalty area and the ball was bundled in by Jake Forster to put the Rovers 1 up. Both teams were struggling to cope with the strong wind, and Cirencester seemed to be coping with the conditions better than Bourton. In a half of very few chances and both keepers not called in to action the half time whistle blew with Bourton going in 1 up.

The 2nd half started with both teams trying to get the ball down and play some football, again Cirencester were dealing with the conditions better than Bourton, very few chances were created. With 10 minutes to go, Cirencester were throwing everything forward, a ball knocked in to the box was cleared, but only found a Cirencester player who finished very well with a crisp shot in to the bottom right corner to draw them level. The game ended 1 1.

Friendly v Carterton FC at Rissington Road

DSC_7051.jpg

The 2nd team played their first pre season game against a very strong Carterton team on Thursday night. Bourton blooded 7 of last season's under 17 team and they all stepped up to the challenge, with Rich Morse also coming in to make his debut. It was always going to be a very tough game with the visitors fielding 6 ex hellinic league players. Bourton started well, and should have been 2 up in the first 20 minutes, Carterton then started to take control playing some quick passing football and scoring 4 in the final 25 minutes of the half. The 2nd half see Bourton end up with the 7 youngsters all on the pitch, and to be honest they all stepped up to the challenge. Bourton were now playing some very good football with Henry Smyth running his socks off in the middle of the park, Fin Griffiths looking very comfortable on the ball the young lads were knocking it about well and this resulted in veteran Lee Mosson pulling a goal back. The final score was 1 4 to Carterton, but their were so many positives to take from the game, like I said, all the young lads, playing their first adult game didn't look out of their depth. Brize Norton are the visitors this Tuesday night at Rissington Road, 18.30 kick off. The 3rds are then in action on Wednesday night at home to Brize Norton res, again 18.30 kick off.

BADGE2-1.jpg

CONGRATULATIONS

It has been confirmed this morning that Bourton Rovers Football have been promoted to the Hellenic West Division One league for the Season 2019/2020. A massive achievement by the club and a historic move for those involved. Having spent the last few years in West Two, winning the league once and coming very close on other occasions we are truly proud to receive this news. Not forgetting of course two County Cup finals in a row and the memorable the Chairman’s Challenge Cup Champions win last season.

We must not forget at all the club is made up of more than just the first team, it’s made up of two others cup winning teams and many volunteers, committee members and spectators that have made this club what it is today. We are also proud to have an ever expanding Junior platform and without this we can not achieve what we have achieved today.

So a MASSIVE congratulations to all at Bourton Rovers football Club and let’s look forward to a challenging and rewarding new season.

Filming for Football in the River

Capture.PNG

Football in the River draws in hundreds if not thousands to Bourton on the Water every August Bank Holiday. This annual event is becoming very popular with the visitors and this year we want to promote it like never before.

We are looking for 4 volunteers from the BRFC Senior Teams to take part in a short video to promote the event. You will be tasked to participate in a cool warm up and show viewers that you are warming up to play Football in the River. This will include press ups, sit ups and sprinting all in the river. Selected on a warmer day of course and will only take around 2 hours to complete.

If you would like to take part please let us know as filming will start soon subject to the Parish Council’s permission.

The new Bourton Rovers Football Club website

BADGE.png

It’s been on the shelf a few months now but I am delighted to make live the Bourton Rovers Club website. The site offers a simple solution to give the club an enhanced profile online. Over the next couple of months I will sit down with the club’s committee and discuss where improvements can be made.

There are some photos to add which I will do very soon but you get the idea of what is to be achieved. Managers will have the opportunity to add match reports and photos on this same blog page and link direct to the BRFC Social Media accounts.

As you will see there is a gallery where action photos have been taken of each team. To help raise funds for the ground development I am donating 50% of all profits made from digital file or print sales to the fund.

For now, browse around the site and if you would like to forward any feedback I would be glad to hear from you.

The domain is www.bourtonroversfootball.com
